Connection to industry is integral to delivering programs with high levels of employability outcomes.  This can often be challenging, particularly for secondary teachers delivering vocational subjects.

The VDC in partnership with the Victorian Department of Education and Training has developed an industry emersion program to help close the gap between secondary teachers and industry.  The program involves placing 100 government secondary school teachers, who are currently involved in vocational programs, into industry work placements.

It has been fantastic to see the commitment from employers who have opened their doors to offer placements to the participants of this program. There is a diverse range of employers involved including Building and Construction, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Sport and Recreation and Community Services.

Collaborating with industry is just one of the topics of focus for the 2017 VDC teaching and learning conference being held in Torquay on 7 and 8 September.  Registrations are closing soon so if you would like to secure a place at the conference, please click here for further information.  We hope you can join us!
