As we close in on the end of 2020, we’ve also reached the end of our review of the “basics.” We have traveled through A<\/strong>ssessment and A<\/strong>nalysis (https:\/\/trainingmag.com\/trgmag-article\/you-still-need-do-work\/<\/a>), D<\/strong>esign planning (https:\/\/trainingmag.com\/trgmag-article\/design-moreskin-deep<\/a>), and D<\/strong>evelop and I<\/strong>mplement (https:\/\/trainingmag.com\/trgmag-article\/magic-developimplement<\/a>). Now let’s talk through E<\/strong>valuation. A quick reminder: The evaluation plan is part of the design planning and is included in the needs analysis (report) to leaders and stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The performance objectives inform the plan for what gets evaluated, in what timeframe, and what intervals. The more complex the business need—and the learning required to address it—the more robust the evaluation plan must be. The way ADDIE is the basis for planning the instructional design work, Kirkpatrick’s Four-Level Evaluation Model is the basis for planning the evaluation strategy.<\/p>\n

Administer Level 1 evaluations right after the learning is complete. Evaluations should be written to elicit learners’ feedback about their experience while completing the learning content.
