Victoria’s Minister for Education James Merlino has established a review of VCAL and VET in schools, including school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.<\/p>\n

Its aim is to improve vocational education and applied learning to ensure school students receive a high-quality qualification and the technical and practical skills Victoria’s economy needs.<\/p>\n

Led by the former CEO of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, John Firth, it will make recommendations for reforms. As Chair of the Review, he is:<\/p>\n

“… keen to ensure that the Review is fully informed by the views and experiences of all involved in Victoria’s education system. I encourage feedback from current and past students, parents, teachers, principals, employers, VET and university educators and the broader community.”<\/p>\n

Consultation has already begun, and you can engage with the process through its website<\/a>, which provides the review’s terms of reference, and includes a consultation paper.<\/p>\n

The website also enables you to complete a survey, which closes on 27 March 2020 or upload a submission by referencing the consultation paper. Submissions are due on 27 March also.<\/p>\n

A final report will be delivered to the Minister in May this year.<\/p>\n
